I went home this weekend and walked the Canals in my hometown. It made me think about this blog post! The canals were a man made and were built in order to change the flow of water to the beach, fighting against erosion. People have transformed this location by creating these canals, changing the flow of water. The landscape goes in a circle around Naples Island and is build up multiple feet above water. If falling, they re-do the structure every few years. The specific purpose for these walls is for the houses that live there. I think that this is successful right now but they are showing that it is slowly starting to sink and so they are rebuilding a lot of it.

It has a rough outside with lots of different colored specks that made it look like the sidewalk. The picture was taken on Friday April 4th outside the Yakitutu building.      This Weekend I went to Avila Beach and found this cool rock!  Describe the geological feature itself (what it is, size, etc.).  Is it experiencing weathering now, or was it mostly in the past?  Do you think it was chemical or physical weathering?  Explain how you think the weathering happened. The size of the object is about the size of a baseball, however not round but with lots of sharp edges. One of the sides is very flat, making me think that it was maybe split at one point in time? I think that the weathering on this rock has been recent, due to how smooth the sides of the rock are as well as that sharp split on that one edge. I think this shows that it is a physical weathering process.  What evidence tells you that weathering has occurred?  Estimate how long you think the weathering has been happening. What should go in your blog entry : Describe the geological feature itself (what it is, size, etc.).  Is it experiencing erosion now, or was it mostly in the past?  What was the cause of the erosion? (Water flow, gravity, etc.) I found this rock on the Morro Bay beach, in the sand near the water. It is about the size of a golf bal, but is not a perfect ball shape. Smooth edges with a gray base and white colors within it, as well as little black and brown spots. I think that this rock is a sedimentary rock and is a combination of small compounded rocks. Lots of heat and compaction of rocks has created this rock that I have found on the beach.  What evidence tells you that erosion has occurred?  Estimate how long you think the erosion has been happening.  How far was the sediment transported?
